A Brief History of eAPISfile.com
eAPISfile.com was conceived because I am lazy !
Now I am one of the hardest workers you will ever find. But I hate doing mundane
repetitive tasks that can be easily automated.
I started flying in 1998 and own a 1991 Beechcraft Bonanza F33A. I have flown internationally on a regular basis. I have flow our plane into Alaska, Canada, Mexico, Central America, Bahamas and all the way down the BVI island chain to Venezuela. In addition, I have done Air Safaris to Australia and Africa. International flights are some of the best flying adventures I have ever had. And I fly a lot in the USA as well.
I have a real passion for aviation and fly over 250 hrs / year in my Bonanza. As such I have become active members in many flying organizations. I am president of Pacific Bonanza Society and developed there website.
I am a Life Member and a prior Director of the
American Bonanza Society and was on their board of directors for 6 years - I was president in 2010/2011.
I am a founding member and President, board member of the SoCal Pilots, a Flying organization based in Orange County CA at SNA. In addition, I was also a Airport Supervisor at
KSNA.
I am a board member and heavily involved in many Non-profit organizations in OC CA.
Liga International and
Flying Samaritans are two such organizations that allow me to enjoy my passion for flying and travel internationally and give back to the less fortunate. I have been able to not only provide my flying and business skills but also my website development ability has been very helpful in automating these volunteer organizations.
I developed websites for these organizations in 2001 and provided information on international travel for its pilots. Frustrated with the amount of time it took to clear the commandants office and customs with 20-30 pilots in line I developed an automated way to generate and print all the required Entrance, Arrival and International Flight plan documents required for International travel. These tools have been available to Liga International and Flying Samaritans pilots for many years.
In 2008 eAPIS was born. I found the government site less than friendly so I developed a front end to load to there website. All the data came from the extended membership and International Flight plan information we already had developed. When CBP allowed a direct connect I was one of the first to implement that feature of which there are only a few organizations that are certified today. Then I saw companies offering this service for hundreds of $$$/year and I thought that was outrageous.
So, I added automated eAPIS filing and a complete international travel resource section to the this website to facilitate the pilots who travel to Mexico. Over several months I refined the
process via feed back from hundreds of experienced international travelers like myself. Today its the easiest and fastest way and cheapest way to file your eAPIS documents and one of the only sites that complete all your international Flight Plan documents as well.
In 2014 I added Mexico eAPIS to the eAPISfile.com website. Several other websites now also provide this service, but it's manual and cumbersome and expensive. At eAPISfile.com it's all automatic. The same information you entered to process your USA eAPIS and International flight plans is also used to generate the Mexico eAPIS filing.
I have set the membership at a Low Fee of $35/yr for USA eAPIS and Mexico eAPIS as well as International FlightPlans. We provided a single site location to get to everything you need to know about the rules and regulations of international GA travel. The fee is to cover hosting and server costs. The reason we charge more for Mexico eAPIS is because we are required my Mexico to use ARINC to file the Mexico eAPIS and they charge us for that portal.
While the first time you enter the data you will spend just as much time on any other system, including the CBP Gov site. But, the first revision or your second filing I can assure you that you will save hours of time each time you file. My first time filing on the Gov site took 3 hrs. It was in Beta at the time and there we problems but most users today still take 2+ hrs to
signup and fill in the blanks for there first eAPIS filing. Today, via eAPISfile.com I can file a eAPIS report to CBP in under 30 Sec. Add printing of all the international forms and you can be all done in few minutes.
Everyone who has used this system raves about how simple it is and how it has taken a complicated process and made it a NO-Brainer. Hundreds of PBS, SoCal Pilots, Liga and FlyingSams pilots have used this system to travel to Mexico, Canada or the Bahamas. Take a look at the Help menu to see the Document, Forms, video, and PDF resources that are provided for you to make your eAPIS filing a breeze - All in one place.
I hope you choose to become a member and experience the joys of International travel. I am always available to help our members review or successfully file there eAPIS documents. I appreciate feedback on how we can make it better or a new feature that makes it easier for you. Please reach out with any questions or comments.
